The season 6 opener of ‘The Closer’ entitled ‘The Big Bang’ didn’t quite live up to its title. The crime of the week centred on the murder of a man who was now hanging precariously on wires below his balcony. The removal of the victim provides the best sequence of the episode with the attempt of Brenda and Provenza to shield an unsuspecting witness from what is happening outside.
But this crime seems to take a back seat to the real story of the episode, that being the murder squad’s move to a new (and confusing) headquarters. It is this move within the story that gives the series a feel of a new beginning, as well as reaffirming character quirks that we have grown to love such as Brenda’s love affair with her candy draw. The episode closes with a couple of surprises that will that will no doubt have repercussions throughout the season. Overall this was a different season opener from past years as it opens up new possibilities for all concerned, it will be an interesting season ahead.
Yes i saw this one 2 and the murder was definately secondary to the new copshop digs. Im looking forward to what will happen in this season and i think its time for Chief Pope to take a less prominant role, his character seems to be moving from commanding to continuously bewildered and whiney.
ReplyDeleteYes I completely agree the expiry date was almost up on Chief Pope, glad they are changing his roll.
